Rev. Monica D Jacobson-Tennessen is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister who has served congregations in Oregon, Massachusetts, and Washington, across a variety of congregational sizes and organizational styles. She became a Unitarian Universalist in 2007, having been previously part of the cohort of “nones” (people with no religious affiliation). Rev. Monica’s path to ordained ministry included serving UUCS previously as an Intern Minister from 2016-2018 while she was in seminary. Having been jointly ordained by UUCS and the UU Fellowship of Corvallis, Oregon, in May 2018, Rev. Monica is now delighted to be returning to UUCS to do transitional ministry.

Rev. Monica sees Unitarian Universalist congregational life as a powerful spiritual technology for living in these times. She writes, “Our pluralism is one of our strengths, as we learn from each other; our commitment to our shared values is another, as we strive to build the world we dream of. And our emphasis on intentional spiritual deepening – the ways we search for truth, ground ourselves in practices and relationships, and heed the call of justice and love – is the ancient technology that will help us meet each moment.”

Rev. Monica lives outside Vancouver, Washington, with her spouse, tween, and two mischievous Siamese cats. She will be with UUCS on second and fourth Sundays for the 2024-25 congregational year.
