Good Bye Rubi
Concern entered by Noah on November 17, 2024
It is with great sadness that I share the news that our sweet little Rubi, the 20 year old cat we brought to the Blessing of the Animals, died peacefully and comfortably in my arms last Tuesday morning. May she swiftly attain a precious human rebirth, meet with a perfectly qualified Mahayana guide and attain Enlightenment as soon as possible for the benefit of all beings.

Beckman Anniversary 9-22-24
Joy entered by Don Beckman on October 20, 2024
Helen and I were married by Rick in the UUCS church on September 22, 2001. When we went out to dinner on Sunday to celebrate our 23rd anniversary, at one point I held her hands, looked into her eyes and said: “Honey, if I had it to do all over again, I probably would.” Helen is still not speaking to me!

Kathy Finicle 9-13-24
Concern entered by Jon Chinburg on October 20, 2024
This week my longtime friend, mentor, and kindergarten classmate, passed. Kathy Finicle was an inspiring and insightful middle school teacher for many years at Judson Middle School. She and her husband Bob, retired from the Salem Keizer School District to teach in a hospitality training program in Uganda for some years before her cancer diagnosis forced them back to the USA for the advanced treatments she needed. Join me in sending light, love and peace to Bob and their daughters Kelsey and Emily.
Marlene Anderson 10-14-24
Concern entered by Ann Hanus on October 20, 2024
I am very saddened by the recent death of Marlene Anderson. She was a member of the Portland UU Congregation and the founder of the IMANI project, a non-profit dedicated to serving mothers and children to prevent, educate and treat HIV. Our UUCS Microfinance Project partnered with IMANI for a project that benefitted poor Kenyan women. She was a kind, generous and selfless individual who left the world a better place.
