What is Share the Plate? During each Sunday service, we take a collection. This voluntarily given money is then shared between our congregation and an organization from the local community which has goals that align with Unitarian Universalist principles. This month’s Share the Plate recipient is the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice.
The Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ) is an organization that accompanies and equips faith communities to advance immigrant justice through direct accompaniment of immigrants facing detention and deportation, policy advocacy at local, state and national levels, and prophetic action. Through our accompaniment program, we provide physical accompaniment to community members who are navigating the immigration system.
Accompaniment is practice rooted in faith traditions grounded in the concept of mutuality. Our accompaniment program trains volunteers to stand alongside community members as they navigate unjust systems. Our accompaniers build relationships with community members and bear witness to these systems.
Please consider making a separate, one-time donation this month with IMirJ on the memo line, or as a Share the Plate donation.
