As part of the Welcoming Congregation recertification process sponsored by the Salem CUUPS, (Covenant of UU Pagans), we will be showing the documentary “The Out List” on Oct 9 at 7:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. Discussion to follow.
The showing of “The Out List” coincides with National Coming Out Day held Oct. 11. The year 2016 is the 29th anniversary of a pivotal march in which 500,000 people descended on Washington, D.C. and demanded equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people. National Coming Out Day is a reminder that one of the most basic tools is the power of coming out. One out of every two Americans has someone close to them who is gay or lesbian. For transgender people, that number is only one in 10. From this beginning came many LGBTQ organizations including LLEGO, National Latino/a Gay and Lesbian Organization and LEAGUE, AT&T’s employee group.
