The 34 Days of Peace campaign sponsored by Oregonians for Peace will conclude at UUCS with a special program marking United Nations Day. The Oct. 24 event falls on the same day as the official UN Day, the anniversary of the ratification of the UN Charter in 1945 and the day the United Nations came into being.
Prof. James A.R. Nafziger will deliver an address called “The United Nations: Looking Ahead with Aid of a Rear-View Mirror.” Dr. Nafziger is theThomas B. Stoel Professor of Law, and Director of International Law Programs at Willamette University Law College. The event starts 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 in the Fellowship Hall. A potluck dinner will accompany the program. Please bring a dish to share and share in fellowship, food and intention for peace. The 34 Days of Peace celebration is from September 21 to October 24, 2016 with a complete schedule of events at various locations. One of the events is a self-guided Peace Trail. It includes peace, diversity and sustainability landmarks in and around Salem.
