November 30th to December 11th, leaders from around the world will meet in Paris, France to forge a new global agreement around climate change. Climate action organization 350.org and allies are calling for a global mobilization on the weekend before the talks open to put heads of state on notice that “the entire world expects them to take nothing less than dramatic action to shut down the fossil fuel industry and build the renewable energy we need.”
On Sunday, November 29th at 1 p.m., the 350 Salem OR event, Salem to Paris: Support Climate Justice, will begin at Court and High Streets NE for a short walk around downtown to Riverfront Park where we will have a rally at 1:30 p.m. to add our voices to the global message, “Keep fossil fuels in the ground and finance a just transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050.” Our Reverend, Rick Davis, will be a featured speaker. Put on a beret and join us on November 29th to share the joie de vivre we want to be able to pass on to future generations. There’ll be speakers, music, art, information and a chance to express your own hopes for a safe and stable climate & your ideas for solutions to climate change.
