Green Man plaque purchased from CUUPS funds to watch over the UUCS garden. He could also be called Herne the Hunter or Cernuous, a Celtic god of the forest. He is often depicted as the horned god, sometimes with the attributes of a wild stag. 2016-08The Salem Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS) is dedicated to honoring our Mother Earth in all aspects, and to celebrating the Wheel of the Year as part of our spiritual practices. We are a diverse group which recognizes and supports all types of paganism and nature-based spirituality. Anyone who would like to learn is welcome.

We are recognized by our congregation and the Unitarian Universalist Association as well as the national Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans. We have our own set of by laws and an elected board of directors. Business meetings as well as any events we plan are open to any and all.

Our monthly meet and greet pot luck and discussion of relevant topics gives a safe and friendly place for pagans to come together. We plan rituals around the Wheel of the Year and hold Full Moon and New Moon rituals, as well as an annual Winter Solstice celebration. We are actively involved in volunteer activities at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem and in the greater Salem community.

As part of our outreach, we sponsor Year and a Day classes with the Lyceum of Trees to bring the study of basic paganism to any seeking more knowledge and understanding. We volunteer with Salem Interfaith Hospitality Network during their time at UUCS to feed and shelter homeless families. We are a presence at various community events that promote peace and social justice in our community.

We have designed and planted a ritual herb garden which has provided herbs for a variety of uses in our community. We have cleared and planned a ritual space in Bateman Woods on the UUCS property for conducting outside rituals, for example a Maypole event held in May, 2016.

Anyone may attend our events, volunteer, and fundraising efforts. Business meetings are on the second Monday of every month beginning at 6:30 for food and conversation with the meeting starting at 7:00 pm. Our monthly Meet and Greet potluck is on the third Friday of each month, beginning at 7:00 pm.

Please check the UUCS calendar for celebrations around the Wheel of the Year and Moon celebrations. Our current officers are:
