Candidate for Board Chair
I have been a member of UUCS since 1973. I was raised in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church and attended Morningside Methodist when I first moved here in 1968. Before coming to Salem I lived in California, mostly in Fresno where I graduated from high school and attended college. Since joining UUCS (then FUSSO) I have been membership and social committee chair and mostly volunteered my time in RE where I shared the director’s position with another member for several years. I have continued with RE and until last year sang in the choir since its inception in our former building.
I retired from school counseling and teaching 13 years ago. I have continued working in community mediation and have added Small Claims Court mediation to my volunteer work. I also volunteer for Victims Assistance through the DA’s office and at the Capitol Store. At UUCS I currently volunteer with RE on Sunday mornings , RE team membership team Women’s Alliance and Lifelines Lay Ministry.
I have 2 grown children and 2 grandsons. One grandson lived next door to me for 12 years and the other lived with me for 10 years. He has been living with roommates for 2 years now so it is finally just me.
