Meditation and Discernment Workshop March 17

meditation and Discernment 2018-3-17Spend a Saturday on Meditation & Discernment: Twin Arts for the Mindful Navigation of Life with Rev. David Scheuneman, UU Spiritual Director, hosted by Rev. Rick Davis.

Saturday, March 17, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem.

GRACEFUL EXITS ARE PROVIDED IF YOU NEED TO LEAVE EARLY.

Meditation and discernment are both arts of attention:

  • Meditation attends to the present moment.
  • Discernment attends to our sense of life’s calling to us

When cultivated together, they are mutually supportive and empowering. This gathering examines and practices both, through presentation, discussion and silent sits. A light lunch is provided. A freewill donation requested to support David’s ministry.

A third-generation UU, David is a graduate of Meadville Lombard Theological School, where he specialized in contemplative spirituality and community ministry. He and Rev. Rick are longtime friends, collaborators, and co-pilgrims.

David has been teaching meditation for 25 years, with training from several sources, including Zen & Tibetan Buddhism and “Centering Prayer”. Since 1998, he has also had a thriving ministry with youth and young adults on Star Island, the UU conference center off the Portsmouth, New Hampshire coast.
