hands holding a flower in attitude of giving 2017-10-01Good Samaritan Bags – Laura Christensen and Bob and Cindy Francis in collaboration with Rev. Rick and RE Youth, will be collecting items (as well as donating items) for putting together toiletry bags to handout to our local homeless people. This will be an ongoing congregational project.

Every second Sunday, following the services, there will be an opportunity in the fellowship hall to put together bags for the homeless. You can then take some home with you to distribute to people in need as you are willing and able.

Please help make this a successful outreach project by donating any of the following items (a box for donations will be near the social justice table in the fellowship hall each Sunday):

  • various kinds of wrapped hard candy,
  • individually wrapped snack crackers,
  • Chapstick,
  • small Kleenex packs,
  • personal hygiene items such as feminine pads/tampons, e
  • environmentally safe soap and shampoo (if used in river water or streams)
  • deodorant/lotion in the small travel sizes,
  • granola bars, raisins, nuts,
  • sandwich size ziplock bags

We also could use help with sewing the individual reuseable bags to handout the items. Please let us know if you would be willing to help sew the bags. Supplies and directions will be provided. These bags will be decorated by our youth! We hope many of you will be able to support this project. It is a great opportunity for youth to work with other adults in our congregation to make this happen!
