The February 2017 Share the Plate Recipient is the Oregon Prison Project

jail cells and corridor photoThe Oregon Prison Project is a state nonprofit that offers nonviolence training in prisons, post-prison and other settings with the overall goal of making safer communities. Such training, done by trained volunteers, has been shown to decrease aggressive behavior and increase empathy. The SJAT picked this group to support training at the Oregon Penitentiary in Salem as part of its overall aim to work on criminal justice reform.
